| Melissa and Dale helped us a lot by taking our horse in
and teaching him some needed manners. My daughters horse which we had
just purchased had a very nasty habit of rearing up and striking out at
her. He was very unpredictable and couldn't be trusted. He
was also very under weight when we bought him. We had done all we knew
how to get weight on him with not much luck. Melissa and Dale have
worked with him and taught him not to rear and ground manners and got
him started riding, and have made him a lot safer for us.
Melissa also tried different feed rations until she came up with one
that would work to keep the weight on. DJ is now being ridden
almost every day by my 12 year old daughter with out any worries by me.
He is doing great now and will make an awesome pleasure horse someday.

We were fortunate to have 3 horses spend a month in barrel
training with Melissa in 2004. The horses came back in excellent
shape, and you could tell she had
put a considerable amount of time and rides on them.
They are also well on their way to knowing the pattern without to much of
an effort by the rider on both barrels and poles.
She added a great personal touch by taking my daughters in to the arena to
show them the different training methods used on each of their horses.
She was also open about the good, bad, and ugly of each horse. Which
her assessment pretty much reconfirmed
what we had thought about one of our fine equine family members, lazy
mare!
We all learned a lot about the horses and barrels\poles, and had a great
time with her and her family.
Hopefully, two of the three will be back at Melissa's for additional
training this spring\summer and will have the opportunity to ride with her
again!
Thanks Melissa!!!

No butts about it Melissa
ROCKS!!!! I brought her my frisky 4 year old and 3 months
later she sent me home with a calm, barrel started, muscled up dream
horse!! I learned a lot from her as well. I came
to Melissa's house 3 times and each time I went home with more knowledge
than I ever would from a book or video! Melissa trains
horses with a no nonsense confidence but is very gentle and loving at
the same time. My mom always says "you can judge a good
trainer by asking yourself if you would take another horse to them"
and I would in a heartbeat!
Thanks so much Melissa you not only trained my horse, you gave me more
riding confidence then I have ever had on one!!

Well there is so much to say about
Melissa but I doubt that it would all fit in this little comment box so
I'm going to try and shorten what I have to say up as good as I can
without missing a thing. This is my first year in running barrels and
also my first year training my very own barrel horse...with the help of
this outstanding lady. If it wasn't for her i wouldn't even be into
barrels, or even know how to run them. She has taught me so much that it
is unbelieveable to think that just a simple horse lover could turn a
western pleasure rider (like myself) into a barrel loving rider.
I couldn't say where I would be now, but because of Melissa (and Dale
and the boys) I am so much more confident in my riding, I have a
wonderful horse that she also helped me find, and train, and I have a
mom that isn't so worried about me riding anymore! Melissa is like
my 2nd mom because she took me under her wing and because of her,
someday I'm going to win the world champion barrel racing for her!! haha
My advice to anyone consider Melissa.

I've known Melissa and her family for
about 15 years and would like to assure new browsers to their website
that they are a very friendly, honest family. Deal with them with
confidence. They have hearts of gold and would be an asset to any horse
program.
I've worked with Melissa on her barrel horses some, but
really only to give her some basics when she was starting. She has
a wealth of desire for the cans and the attitude, ability, and horse
sense to accomplish anything she wants to. (They don't brag about it
much...but they also offer a 'burro find' service at a very reasonable
rate!)
Good Luck guys and thanks for your
friendship!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sincerely,

A update on
Little Bit - our daughter and her won the year end runner-up at the barrel
series this past week and runner up all-around cowperson at a rodeo series in
the area that lasts all summer. We have one more rodeo and we are done competing
for the summer unless we get involved on the Little Britches organization. My
wife and I cannot thank you enough for giving us a chance to share our lives
with this GREAT being. She is one of the family and will never leave the place
unless we go with her. She has brought our family a great comfort after losing
the old horse. We don't even worry about the youngest girl riding her as she
just adjusts to the rider. We will send pictures when we get them developed and
find the right one to send. thanks again!

"Melissa
is a very trusted and experienced friend. I trust her with all my heart.
She spent many days teaching me and my horse, Fancy, to run barrels with her
knowledge that I so wanted AND NEEDED. My mom said I could smell a horse
within five miles as a child. I found them and I rode but no one has ever spent
time with me until Melissa did. My little Arab, Fancy, took well to all
the teaching; no whips, no spurs, etc. She learned the game and we went
after it whole heartedly. I was an older mom and took senior barrels of my
age group and saddle club. Yes, there was competition! Most people
were quite impressed with my little Arab mare, Fancy. Her pole bending was
awesome. Yes, we placed at every show. We ran in most all the
games. Fancy loved them! Thank you Melissa. It was the time of
my life.
Thanks again Melissa
for the recommendation of Trinity, my new Arab mare, as a good horse for
me. You have spent a lot of time working with her and wanted me to come
meet her. I have been blessed again to have the opportunity to enjoy a
well trained horse. Sorry to take her from your kids! Watching
your boys ride Trinity sold me on her as I want my daughter to have the
opportunities that I did not. I am only 46 now! I want to
enjoy a willing, well trained horse and she is. I bought her in Nebraska
and transported her to Texas. Friends have asked why I traveled so
far to buy a horse. I needed a trustworthy, willing horse and found
one in Nebraska! My daughter is nine and already riding her with
confidence. We are lucky."

Melissa has helped to train my horse, Cody, and me on barrels. At the time I didn't realize that
there was so much involved in training a barrel horse. The knowledge and
skills that Melissa has taught my horse and me have led to many winnings in the
barrel racing sport. Melissa strives to gain and learn more about the
sport of barrel racing by talking with other barrel racers, watching video
tapes, and reading books and articles, and even competing in barrel racing
events in rodeos and local shows.
I recommend Melissa as a qualified
barrel instructor. She always strives and dedicates herself to learn more
about the horse industry. whether it is the sport of barrel racing, equine
health, and other equine events and activities. It has been a rewarding
experience to work with Melissa and I wish her much success in the future.

Melissa helped train
my horse and me a few years ago. She taught me how to teach my horse the basic
ground work before starting the barrel pattern. She was very knowledgeable
about equipment and any problems that might occur with my horse and how to
correct the horse gently. She is very good with horses and emphasizes
taking your time and not rushing the horse. I would recommend her to
anyone wanting a good solid trained barrel horse . If it was not for Melissa my horse wouldn't have turned out as good
as she did. I owe a lot to her.
