Freckles
Jell Girl
Lady was purchased Nov. 20th by Amber. I am hoping for great things from both Amber and Lady. I will keep giving updates on their progress as I get them. Amber is going to run lady in College rodeo next fall. I wish Amber and Lady tons of luck. I will miss this horse greatly and can't wait to see her and amber winning. This mare I believe was my once in a lifetime horse but due to finances and lack of time she is now Amber's once in a lifetime horse. GOOD LUCK AMBER AND LADY! Update: Amber and Lady placed 1st in the 3D Youth barrels in Fremont. Great Job Amber!! Amber has been running Lady and the two are just starting to click. The two are making a great team!
UPDATE: Amber and Lady (aka. Dixie as she is now called) have won a rodeo scholarship. Amber will be hitting the college rodeo circuit with Dixie this fall. Check back for updates on how these two are doing. Congratulations Amber!
Little
Joe
Joe was purchased by Darren to be used as a trail horse. It was very hard to see him go but I know he will be in a great home. We will be awaiting updates from Darren to see how Joe is doing. Good Luck Darren with Joe! He is a awesome horse and I know will make you proud!
My
Ace On Deck
"My Ace on Deck"
Dale, Melissa, and family with "My Ace on Deck" in
2001 Ace's Story Ace was purchased by my mother when he was 2 months
old. We were constantly told he would probably be stunted due to him
being taken off his mother so early, but the people that owned his mother didn't
want him and so well we just had to have him. ( at the time I sold him I
believe he measured at exactly 16.2 hands tall.) When we
first got Ace he was black as night. We were thinking of calling him
Ace of Spades but due to the fact that appaloosas are known to change colors a
lot we settled with "My Ace On Deck". I
started Ace in Barrel training as a 3 yr old but due to children and life I
never got to pursue barrels with him like I wanted to. I had Ace and
was doing all the training and riding on him and felt I should just own him
outright so when Ace
turned 5 I purchased him from my mother. We moved to Nebraska and Ire-started
him in Barrel training again and ran him in a few rodeos and jackpots
. My husband took him and used him for a year in the feedlot
with me running him in some local shows and my
kids rode him when they wanted to have something to ride as he was just a all
around good horse. I decided in spring of 2001 to sell him as we needed money
and he was such a good horse I hated to see him standing and not getting used
like he should have been. In Fall of 2001 Sandy Bennett emailed me
and seen him on DreamHorse.com and I had at that time decided to not sell him
and forgot he was even on there. Well to make a long story short she
purchased Ace in March of 2002 and he made the long trip to Ohio where he now
lives with his new family. The most exciting news I could ever
have received was when Sandy called to inform me that Ace won the ApHC world in
the Camas Prairie Stump Race which is a Appaloosa barrel race. I
miss him so much but am so happy to know he went to such a great family and
home. He is and
always will be a one of a kind horse! 2004 Email Update from Sandy Bennett:
"We are back from Ft Worth - safe and sound .
Ace was wonderful again. We finished 3 rd in the barrels this year. We
went a little deep on a first barrel running against him and it was enough for
him to get past us !!! I am still very proud of Ace. He is soooo much fun to
ride and show .We should also finish # 3 in the nation in the
barrels . Not bad for only 6 shows.
I can not thank you enough for letting Ace be a
part of my life. I love him more every day !!!!
SB"
2005 Update from Sandy Bennett:
Well, it is a sad day at the Bennett house . It is official , I have
SOLD My Ace On Deck . Hands down the hardest decision to sell a horse
I have ever had to make.
Look for him in the 12 and under classes this year with his excited
new young rider ! What a lucky little girl she is
Thanks for all of your support when Ace and I ran together .
Sandy
Little
Bit
Bit's Story Little Bit was purchased by my brother when she was a
yearling. She was a big pet and fit right into our
family. As a 2 yr old my brother started riding her but due to his
hectic time schedule and lack of time I took her over and started her
training. My brother took her on many trail rides and a few
playdays. I started Little Bit as a 5 yr old on Barrel Racing
and she did pretty good on the Barrels. I then thought to try her on
Pole bending and she took to that like a fish to water. Bit loved to
run poles and did it just automatically. I purchased her from my
brother when she was 7 and brought her out to Nebraska with us. I
ran her in a couple rodeos but barrels just wasn't really something she liked
allot and we just couldn't compete like I wanted to. My
husband then took her over and started using her as his feedlot
horse. In 2000 my oldest son wanted to use her in 4H and so he
took her over and rode her for that summer. When we were at
the Wayne County Fair and he was showing her he took her out and she ran a
perfect barrel pattern. At that time my son wasn't wanting to go
fast but well little bit had other ideas! When they got done with
the run and he came back to the gate he said "wow mom she can run" and
jumped off and ran to the nearest Port a Potty! It was
hilarious! Little Bit's age started to take affect on her
joints and we started her on daily rations of Corta-Flex. We then
decided to sell her and Lucky for us a Wonderful family was looking for a nice
horse for their kids to do Jr. Rodeo on and so they purchased little bit in 2003
and she went to her new home in South Dakota. I was so happy to
hear that little bit in 2003 won the year end runner-up at a barrel series in
South Dakota and her owner won runner up all-around cowperson at a rodeo
series in SD. Little Bit was
such a big part of our family and is missed terribly but we feel so lucky to
know she went to such a great home! Stevens sold little bit to a neighbor of theirs as the girls have moved on to new horses. They still see Bit and have updated that she is going to the National Little Britches Rodeo in Colorado with her new owner. Good Luck Bit!
We got sonny on a trade in for a bred mare we
had. Sonny was the first bigger pony for all of my boys.
He was the one that when they outgrew the little Shetlands they went on to
him. While he had
his issues every boy loved riding him so much. He was used in
4H by my 3 oldest boys and they did everything with him. His most
favorite event was working cow class. Update 5/05: Everything is going great here and we sure do love the Sonny boy!! He has fit in perfectly, thinks he's king of the pen!! Courtney has been having so much fun with him. Our first show is supposed to be tomorrow, but I'm sure it will be rained out. We were going to take some pictures at the show, and when we do we will send them to you all. He is truely loved and part of the family. I have had a lot of people comment on how nice he is and a perfect kid horse. We have taken him to some of our 4-H riding meetings at the county arena and he is always a gentleman with Courtney.
Update 8/05: Sonny is doing fine. I have been riding him and
winning at shows. He has budyed up with my show horse. We got a new horse and
to my surprise he is the only one being nice to him. I will send you pictures
of him and my other horses later. I have to get them back from Wal-Mart. For
some reason little sonny hates bathes, but he loves to drink water.
Update: 12/05: Howdy
– how are you all? Sorry it took us so long to some pictures to you
all of Sonny, but I am attaching pictures of Courtney and Sonny from the
Missouri State Fair. They really did good – 6th place in
barrels and 4th place in poles. She was so excited and you
can tell he ran really well. They both have so much fun!!! She has
asked for new running gear for Christmas and it’s in neon green.
Should look pretty cool!! Visitors:
