I met my husband Dale on a benefit trail ride in may of 1988. We were riding from Lawton, Iowa to Sioux City, Iowa to benefit the Easter Seals. I always told my parents I would only marry a cowboy and well in September of 1989 I married my cowboy. We now have 4 terrific boys ages 19,16,15 and 13, and they all love riding horses.

This was after our ride when the boys decided they wanted to go for a short ride bareback.

Dale works on a feedlot , and I work full time as a Head Start Assistant Teacher in the winter months.  Dale loves to Team Rope and at this time is waiting on getting a horse started that he can go with.   At this time he is just riding any horse he can and working on the boys horses till he has his own again to ride.    He is passing that love of roping on to the boys, he will have his choice of roping partners I am sure.

My Barrel Racing

All my childhood I had dreamed of being a barrel racer. I would go to rodeos and watch the girls run barrels and just wish that could be me. My mother grew up training horses and I learned so much from her and feel blessed to have had a mother that took the time out to teach me.   She is and always will be to me my biggest mentor and I love her dearly for all she has done for me and given me. . I got my first pony when I was born and I started riding horses by myself when I was 3 years old. My mom always wanted me do the western pleasure/halter thing. I grew up showing pleasure and halter in 4-H . She was scared to have me do barrels as she said she had seen some good horses get ruined so easily by doing barrels.   I decided that when and if I ever did barrel racing I would do every thing in my power to make sure the horse never got ruined.  And that is my main goal. To have a safe, level headed horse that will go out and run the pattern and make it a pleasure to ride.  I started barrel racing in 1990 and was so lucky to have a wonderful teacher and friend LaTona Lord to help me achieve my goals of barrel racing.   She took me and my horse and taught us so much and I am forever thankful to her for helping me meet my goals.    I have never won any huge barrel racing titles I don't run NFR and am by no means a pro.     I just love to train barrel horses and love horses.       I have raised and trained a few horses to go on to win in Barrel Racing and also just good kids horses. I am very proud of the horses that have left here and gone on to do great things.

My main goal is to work with 4H kids and adults wanting to learn the beginning steps to barrel racing and teach them and their horses together.   I really enjoy working with kids and their horses and that is where my main focus is at this time.    In 2004 I put on a small barrel clinic and we not only had so much fun but also everyone left with a little more knowledge including myself.   We had so much fun I believe I will have to do this again soon.
